- College Priority Needs are established by the Colleges on an ongoing basis. The College Needs Committee meets each year to establish a set of clear priorities given its budget constraints. The Foundation attends these meetings with the aim of establishing a corresponding list of needs that reflect both program and capital projects in the short and long term. The Foundation also meets with the Commandant on a quarterly basis.
- A Needs Assessment is then undertaken by the Foundation to ensure our established list of priority needs (for donors) best satisfies the Margin of Excellence as determined by the assessment criteria outlined in the above business model.
- Our Donors are then able to contribute collectively or individually with the aim of satisfying College Priority Needs by way of the following methods and funds:
- Directed Funds – These funds are established in line with the four pillars and promote military leadership, academic, athletic and second language excellence. It is best suited for ongoing or one-time College programs as 80% of the funds raised must be spent each year.
- Endowed Funds – These funds are established based on a clear long-term / ongoing purpose whereby the principal is never expended and the interest earned each year is able to partially or fully support the selected need by our donors.
- Accumulated Funds – These funds offer Classes a perfect fundraising strategy in advance to entering the Old Brigade whereby they may still be uncertain of how they wish to expend their funds. Once a clear purpose is identified a Class can then choose to move their raised monies to another fund.
- Unrestricted Funds – On an annual basis these are the most flexible funds as they allow the Foundation Board to direct the monies raised toward immediate priority needs identified by the Colleges and the Commandant.

- Donor Communications – It is absolutely critical for the Foundation to effectively communicate our list of College Priority Needs to ensure our Alumni and other donors are inspired to donate as they wish.
- The Margin of Excellence – is defined in our Mission Statement and involves character and leadership development through exposure to a series of wide ranging life experiences (focused on excellence) at a critical development stage in life.
