Academic Margin of Excellence Testimonials
“The third year Civil Engineering class has returned from a two week engineering and humanitarian aid project in Cameroon, West Africa. This effort was partially supported by funds from the Foundation… this was probably one of the most significant experiences any of these cadets will ever have had. However, it also made a huge impression on not only the Cameroonian Army and civilian population, but also the Canadian High Commissioner. If we decide to continue this project in future years, it will only be possible with funds from the Foundation.”

“This year, the Men’s Rugby Team has been given one of the most exceptional gifts imaginable; The Birchall Pavilion. It is hard to put in words the appreciation that every single rugby player and coaching staff have for the privilege of using the new Birchall Pavilion made possible through the RMC Foundation and its generous donors. This facility has been badly needed for many years by both the Men’s Rugby Team, and Woman’s Soccer Team….. The Birchall Pavilion provides excellent changing facilities, washrooms, and showers, all of which we had to accomplish elsewhere before and after practices and games. Since the rugby season extends until mid November, it can often get quite wet and cold during that time of the year, which makes the facility incredibly valuable. Over the season, several players that had competed for RMC while being OCdt’s, managed to view the facility and were not only awestruck, but rather jealous that the Birchall Pavilion had been built after their graduation. On behalf of RMC Men’s Rugby Team and Coaching Staff, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude towards every donor that made this project a success. Your support and contributions have ensured that the future of our Men’s Rugby Program will continue with its current success.”

“The contribution from the RMC Foundation allowed the RMC Women's Basketball Team to travel to Halifax and participate in the Atlantic Coast Classic at Mount St Vincent University. Our young team gained valuable experience and the trip helped prepare us for the second half of our season. In addition to basketball, our trip enabled the team to see a part of Canada many of them had not yet enjoyed. The East Coast culture was, as always, remarkable. We would like to thank the RMC Foundation and its donors. Without your support our trip would not have been possible.”

“On behalf of the Men’s Varsity Volleyball Team, I would like to extend our greatest appreciation for your support of our recent trip to Memorial University in St. John’s Newfoundland. This was a remarkable experience, for the entire playing and coaching staff….We are thankful for your continued support of us as both Officer Cadets abd Varsity Athletes, and this kind act will definitely serve as inspiration for us to support the College and the RMC Foundation once we are alumni ourselves.”

General Testimonials
“I cannot describe the phenomenal opportunities that the officer cadets were given during the trip to Calgary in November 2009… including high school presentations… the Calgary Leadership Dinner and participation in the Grey Cup Parade and Opening Ceremonies. The chance to promote the College and showcase our talents (Pipes & Drums & Highland Dancers) to an enormous group of people was without a doubt one of the highlights of my and the other cadets’ career at the College. I cannot thank the RMC Foundation, its members, and contributors enough for the unique experience that they were crucial in helping provide, but I can certainly say that those who attended will continue to do their best in promoting the College and use the experience they gained during this trip to improve that skill. I look forward to working with the RMC Foundation in the future and look forward to the great opportunities that it provides to so many officer cadets at the College.”

“On behalf of the staff and students of Juno Beach Academy of Canadian Studies, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for sharing the music of the RMC Pipes and Drums and Highland Dancers with us on 26 November 2009. All members of our school community truly enjoyed the performance as well as the informative recruiting presentation which accompanied the music. I would like to express my appreciation to 24963 OCdt J Hill. He was the OPI for this event and ensured that things ran smoothly. He was exceptionally professional and his attention to detail ensured the performance was flawless. 24481 OCdt K Harbottle is also to be commended for his presentation. It is sometimes difficult to hold the attention of nearly two hundred students. Mr Harbottle’s enthusiasm for RMC and the opportunities that RMC has presented him led to a number of our students in grades 11 and 12 decide that RMC might also present them with the same type of opportunities if they chose to apply. It was our honour and pleasure to host the RMC Pipes and Drums and we look forward to the opportunity to do so again in the future."

“I was extremely honoured to be asked to attend the Legacy Dinner this year. I had heard many good things from previous years, and of course this year proved to be quite exceptional…. The company at my table was extremely lively, and we all had a great time….and it was also quite important to learn more about the RMC Foundation itself and the positive impact donors are making in the lives of officer cadets at the College. I was able to find an ex-cadet from the year entering the Old Brigade who was an engineer like myself. His story was quite unique and was very interesting to listen to…The get together at the Brew Pub after the Dinner was a really fun time, and I know that everyone is excited for next year!”

“It is my great pleasure to write this note of thanks for the Foundation’s support. RMC has the mandate to provide the CF with smart, fit, capable junior officers. Public funding allows us to effect a rigorous four-component program to do just that, but it is only with your generous contributions that we are able to provide for what has often been referred to as the margin of excellence, which greatly enhances the RMC experience and the quality of our product. Ladies and gentlemen, I cannot overstate the positive role the RMC Foundation is playing in assisting the College to develop a margin of excellence that enhances the quality of the junior officer we produce. I thank you and encourage your future support as we continue to pursue even more initiatives, programs and activities aimed at graduating the finest leaders possible.”
