Military & Leadership Needs
- Band
This involves the Pipes & Drums, Brass & Reed and Highland Dancing. Donor funds support travel, purchase, repair and upkeep of instruments and military uniforms. The Band participates in high profile activities throughout Canada and the U.S. They promote a positive image of the College and assist in recruiting.
- Sandhurst Military Skills Team
This program requires the highest standards of fitness, mental alertness and leadership skills. RMC has won four of the last five competitions involving 50 teams from around the world. The team members bring great pride to the College and such achievements set a great example for the other officer cadets and also assist in recruiting efforts.

- Nijmegen March Team
This is the largest event of its kind in the world involving a four day march at 50 kms per day in full military gear. This program requires the highest standards of fitness and also enhances leadership and teamwork skills.
- Educational Travel
Officer cadets participate in a wide range of educational initiatives throughout Canada and beyond in order to increase their military knowledge and awareness. These include visits to NDHQ, military commands and units, NATO, UN, etc.
- Officer Cadet Non-Duty Travel
This program allows officer cadets an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of military events, conferences and symposiums around the world each year.
- International Exchanges
This program involves selected officer cadets experiencing one-term exchanges with the three Service Academies (USAFA, Annapolis and West Point) in the United States and an exchange with Ecole de l’armee de l’air in France each year.
- Birchall Leadership Awards Dinner & Events
Approximately 30 officer cadets attend a long weekend event that involves visits to numerous high schools, an information session (luncheon) that typically includes more than 50 high school principals and guidance counselors, and attendance at a large formal military styled mess dinner event; whereby the College, the Band and other attending officer cadets are showcased in a very positive manner.

Our donors have established and continue to support awards that acknowledge and promote leadership and teamwork excellence.
- Recreational Clubs
There are many officer cadets participating in a variety of activities that assist in building the Margin of Excellence as it relates to leadership, teamwork and individual skills.

Academic Needs
- Educational Travel
Officer cadets participate in a wide range of initiatives throughout the world each year which enhance their knowledge and skills related to their degree programs. These include battlefield tours, engineering projects associated with Humanitarian efforts, preparing and delivering papers at conferences and symposiums, participating at prestigious competitions such as Model UN and Model NATO.
- Guest Speakers
Notable and world renowned subject matter experts attend the Colleges each year to enhance the academic studies of the students.
- Academic Excellence Awards
Our donors have established and continue to support awards to acknowledge and promote academic excellence.
- Scholarships
Bursaries and scholarships have been established by our donors to assist in acknowledging academic achievements and promoting excellence. These awards and scholarships also include excellence in teaching.
Sports & Fitness Needs
- Varsity Sports Travel
Two or three varsity sports teams participate at the highest levels of competition throughout Canada and beyond each year thereby enhancing sporting, leadership and teamwork skills. This initiative also promotes the Colleges and contributes to recruiting efforts and interaction with RMC Club Branches.

Our donors continue to provide ongoing awards to acknowledge and promote fitness and sporting excellence.

Preserving Heritage & Traditions
- Pith Helmets
The Pith Helmets preserve the heritage and traditions, identifies and enhances leadership appointments and promotes a unique and positive image of the Colleges.
- Commemorative Stones
This program preserves the ongoing history of RMC and provides a lasting gift to individuals.
- Memorial Arch (Wurtele – The Number 1 Fund)
This fund is now available to our donors and will ensure the perpetual legacy of the Wurtele family. All funds contributed will support the maintenance of the Memorial Arch and its surrounding area.
- Heritage Fund
The Kingston Branch has initiated a new Heritage Fund at RMC which will establish and fund priority projects as determined by the museum and the College. Its intent is to ensure that precious artifacts are preserved. Donors are invited to assist in this initiative.
